Author's Note

In an early morning on September 11, 2001, a hijacked plane crashed into the World Trade Center's North twin tower, making that tower collapse on to the South Twin Tower at 9:03 am. Later on, there was two more attacks, when another hijacked plane crashed into the pentagon and where a plane crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. After these attacks, thousands were killed and injured. A couple of weeks in the investigation, New York State officials and other federals discovered it was Arabic terrorist in a group called Al-Qaeda. One of the terrorists was a dangerous man named Osama Bin Laden who was hiding from American officials for several years now. Finally after figuring out who planned and did these attacks, the public soon found out and was calling Arabic Muslims names that i cannot say. Some citizens of New York feared that if they were next to a muslim, anything bad could happen to them which was a little strange for muslims to overcome most of the time.
I'm a muslim, and a few years ago, kids called me names, sometimes because some of their family members were killed in the 9/11 attacks. I felt ashamed and a couple of times embarrassed. I wanted to disappear if i could. But when time was passing, the name calling eventually stopped. So when doing this project, i wanted to write about what happen to me a few years ago, the discrimination of terrorists. In this story, a boy named Hassan is in a situation where 9/11 was yesterday, and when going to his school, he is found being bulled, his friends won't talk to him, nobody would. Later on, his friends feel bad for him, they want to see him get hurt anymore. Once more, they get along and Hassan is happy again, like what he use to be all along.

Research Assignment 2

Mostly everyday I see homeless men and women even children on streets asking for money anytime they see a person. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like in their shoes and than thinking that I'm so thankful to have a family that cares for you even if you might get into a fight with them.

I notice that a percentage of possibly 40% are homeless because of budget cuts. But when homeless or poor, a person might have to turn to the things they can do to get their life back on track but not for others.
Robbery, Murders, Rape are now actions being made by people who are self-centered and by people who just don't care. Many questions are still being made. Like for example, who broke into my house? or who killed my on?.

In conclusion, if homeless and poor men and women grow in population there is a big percentage that more crimes will be made by people who feel like their life is ruined and needs to be fixed by what ever they think. This has to stop now or this will continue for a long time.

Another issue is that all around the world, citizens make fun of homeless people thinking "I'M BETTER THEN HIM, I GOT MONEY AND A HOUSE AND HE DOESN'T, also citizens will think of poor, homeless men and women like trash. This also must stop because this will encourage citizen without homes and money to rob or kill anyone with something that they don't have.

Research Assignment 1 : Social Awareness

The environment. Sometimes it's good and than there are times it is awful. In the last decade or so, the environment has been one of the top issues in America. One issue is pollution; half of the United States is filled with pollution causing smog to happen. Smog is bad air of particle pollution and one of the top killers because when breathing in smog, it will lower your lung function, will give you respiratory illness and more. In fact, 76.5 Americans live in areas unhealthy because they live in particle pollution areas. Children and the Elderly are at risk, particle pollution could make them have strokes, heart attacks, and cardiovascular disease.

To help make Particle Pollution grow smaller and smaller, try to stop burning wood or trash that sends particle pollution into the air and not using vehicles so much. Also to make the environment better, people are joining forces with ALA (American Lung Association) to help clean our streets and not using vehicles so much. So far, more plans are being made to clean up our environment.

Social Awareness

Around many neighborhoods n New York City, many people with different religions or cultural point of view and most of all, people that are gays and/or lesbians, have been treated cruel and harsh. A few weeks ago, in recent weeks, citizens have been assaulted and killed just because that person or people is Hispanic, Arab, Black and also being gay. I think that is disrespectful at least. The good thing is that the city or should I say state is trying to fix this dilemma. On October 10, we celebrated loved ones who were gay by wearing purple. Many who were gay had thought they had no choice but to kill themselves when they were being bullied in school. One example is when a college student was have sexual intercourse with another male, his roommates recorded it and put it online which again led to bullying. Though that problem is trying to be stopped, gangs or no gangs have been assaulting men and women what religion or cultural point of view they have. Few months ago, an Hispanic male was assaulted and left in the hospital with many bruises and a possible chance that he will die. This a big problem New York City has to deal with. It is just wrong to hurt someone for their race or religion or if gay or not. This has to be stopped for the life of others.

Mother to Son Response poem

Mother, I'm stumbling in life
sometimes wanting to stop trying
 but I'm not givivng up.
My life is like a crystal stair, falling is no option. Even if it may hurt

I'll climb that crystal stair all the way to the top.
So mom, I'm not giving up
I'll never give up sooner or later, my life will be and will always be a crystal stair.

The Phantom Tollbooth

The Phantom Tollbooth, a story changing the hearts of many. A magical/fantasy tale of a young boy possibly the same age as me learning the best of life from taking a journey in an imaginary world. So many questions began to fill my mind, how id the phantom tollbooth get in his house but most of all what is so important the Character Milo and why the author Norton Juster, decided to have Milo a boring kid who always thinks the opposite, when at home he always wants to be in school, when home he wants to be home. WHAT WAS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT MILO.

I discovered the Phantom Tollbooth when i was 8. When i was 8, thought the book was going to be about aboy who finds a Tollbooth in a circus and from there on it changes his life. I was completely wrong. The book had changed my way of thinking, it made me feel that monsters and wizards exactly exsited somewhere we couldnt find them and one day i would. Sometimes i got confused why friends and family in the real world didnt realize Milo was gone far away from them, but what i did not know was that time had never changed as if it was frozen.

In the Book, Milo discovers a tollbooth in his living room, since Milo was lonely and had nothing to do, he hops in a toy car and goes in the tollbooth and finds himself in the land of expectations. Meeting new people and things like The Wheter Man, who sort of is like the geese in Charlottes Web. Some other people were the Mathemagcian and King Azaz-the ruler of Dictionopolis. While in Dictionopolis, King Azaz told Milo to go on a dangerous a journey, a journey to find Rhyme and Reason. Rhyme and Reason are the step sisters of the Mathemagician and King Azaz. One day the brothers got andry at eachother saying numbers were better than words or words were better than numbers. The brothers asked the sisters Rhyme and Reason which was better. Though the sister gave a horrible answer saying that they were equal, the brothers were made at their sisters and banished them to the dungeon in the sky. King Azaz thought was he did was wrong and i say again sent Milo to go search fro them. While to go find Rhyme and Reason, he learns new things and the good things in life like words, numbers, family. and more.

In conclusion after bringing Rhyme and Reason back, Milo is a changed person, and then in a blick of an eye after he saide goodbye he was back home with a note that said "for Milo who now knows the way". I knew why the author chose Milo as a boring lonely kid. It was to awaken the lazy mind Milo had by making him go on a journey to learn better things from the people in the land of expectations. After Milo had said " there is to much to do here" i was blown away. The Phantom Tollbooth worked as magic.

How does Rhyme and Reason play an important part in the Phantom Tollbooth:

One day a young prince from across the sea soon to be king built a city that would eventually be The Kingdom of Wisdom. The king would later then have two sons that had many ideas, some like making other cities and thats how the cities of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis came along.
Though as time came along, the king found a random basket in his garden, inside of it were twin baby girls. The king happy as he could be with these two girls naming one Rhyme and the other Reason.
Later on the two sons had gotten into arguements about whats better, Numbers or Words, coming to a decision they asked their sisters Rhyme and Reason. Both Rhyme and Reason stated that numbers and words were equal. The brothers hated what their sisters had said so they banished them from the kingdom and left them in a castle in the sky, THEN LONG COMES MILO TO SAVE THE PRINCESSES FROM THE CASTLE AND BRING THEM BACK HOME.
